HPI Racing Cup Racer 1M

The HPI Cup Racer 1M is HPI's newest 1/10th scale four wheel drive on road car. It is a Kit that currently comes in three versions. although that have just announced a fourth kit.

When HPI says this is a Scale kit it is true scale like many of the newer crawlers out there.

The Cup Racer is Considered a Mini so the normal 1/10 scale touring bodies wont fit, but HPI has several bodies that fit perfectly. Their are also so few other companies out there that Make Mini class bodies and parts that will working on the Cup Racer 1M.

I purchased my cup racer at a local hobby shop here in Houston Texas.

It is the Datsun 240Z Version of the Cup Racer Kit (HPI Part #100594)

The instructions are excellent witch is the norm with HPI Racing. The kit comes with a ton of extra parts and set up tools which is a bonus.

You have two choices of wheel base's the long wheel base at 225mm and a short wheel base of 210mm. but with the Datsun 240Z body you use the long wheel base.

You also have a choice of front shock mounting. the stock Lay down style like a Formula One car or Indy car. The second option setting of stand up shocks like the rear shocks.

The rear Differential is a Ball Diff common to on road touring cars and the front diff is a standard differential with 2 internal gears and 3 springs for tuning the action of the diff.

HPI Recommends a Brushed 30 Turn Motor for this Kit. but being the type of guy I am I was like whatever and installed a Castle Creations Side Winder 5700 sensor less system. Ok that was a mistake lol all that did was destroy parts. so I switched over to a Team Novak Havok ESC and a SS PRO 21.5 turn Sensored brushless motor which is the perfect brushless combo for the Cup Racer.

After running both systems a Sensored system is the way to go the control is so much smoother and precise.
